The Centre for Practical Theology (CPT) is a vibrant community dedicated to exploring the intersection of theology and practice. CPT was founded in 2015 with the vision of creating a space to gather people engaging in their faith. This vision encompassed creating opportunities for connecting, learning, worship, and belonging. CPT has been a beacon for those passionate about integrating faith with practical theology.
CPT opened its doors in 2019 at Fairmont United Church in London, where it began its mission in the heart of the community. This was not just a place of worship but also a hub for sustainability through its beloved Fairmont Gardens. The gardens provided fresh foods to the surrounding community, embodying the principles of stewardship and care that are central to our faith. In addition, CPT's Consistory played a vital role in addressing community needs by providing medical equipment and support to those in need. This connection to the land and commitment to serving others, alongside our efforts to meet practical needs, helped shape CPT's approach to practical theology, grounding our work in real-world impact from the very beginning.
Over the years, CPT's work has enabled us to engage with communities not only across Canada but also on a global scale. We have hosted multiple pilgrimages to significant locations such as Greece, the Holy Land, and Spain, offering participants transformative experiences that deepen their understanding of faith and theology.
Our strong connection with Huron@Western, with our co-founders on faculty there, has significantly enriched our educational and collaborative efforts. We offer transformative experiences and insights that deepen the understanding of practical theology and its impact.
As of October 2024, CPT will be relocating to St. Andrews United Church on Bloor Street in Toronto. This new home represents a significant step forward for us, offering enhanced opportunities for growth, expansion, and meaningful discussion. We look forward to welcoming you to our new location and continuing to provide a dynamic environment for theological exploration and community engagement.
Stay tuned for more updates on how we will continue to support and enrich your journey in faith.
